What does reconciliation means to me?

What does reconciliation means to me:

Reconciliation is liberation

1) Understand the hurt created due to ignorance
2) Recognized the hurt created voluntarily towards others
3) Recognized the ignorance that I have about all the other cultures
3) Ability to ask for forgiveness
4) Ability to recognized the value of others
5) Ability to respect others cultures and background
6) Ability to learn from individuals who are very different than me, in culture and traditions
7) Ability to recognized that all humanity is a single family, under one Heavenly Parent

Attitude towards the Marriage Blessing

 Dear Brothers and Sisters,

You are pioneers. You are setting the path for future generations. I am talking about the way we are trying to find our Heavenly Spouse. As you may have heard from me before, being matched and blessed when True Parents were doing so, was a matter of great faith in God and in them, and we did it with great expecting hearts.

Today it is different, faith needs be there for sure but not only in Heavenly Parent, it has to be there in ourselves. We need to be able to understand that Heavenly Parent trust us to do the right thing, so we must also trust ourselves.

Why are you pioneers? Because you are among the first group of individuals who must do so. In the future, it will become a norm but today, it takes diligence and plenty of courage to prepare oneself to be a spouse and find the Heavenly Spouse.

True Father once explained that not just one person can be our Heavenly Spouse, so do not think that there is only one individual among all, that is for you. There are more than one.

So, finding the one has nothing to do with finding a needle in a haystack, but everything to do with how we prepare ourselves to be a spouse and the motivation being it all. Are you willing to do the work, external and internal, both, not just one or the other?

What are the external:

  • Fulfilling the requirements to be a Matching Candidate
  • Create and update on a regular basis a good profile – A profile needs to reflect your heart and soul – take the time, do it well and post it on all platforms available.

What are the internal:

  • An attitude of devotion
  • Sincere prayers, and clear understanding of the preciousness of the Blessing
  • A good understanding of the teaching of our True Parents

There are three events in our life that are most important: Our Birth, our Marriage-Blessing, our Death
It took 9 months and painful delivery for us to be born. It can take many months and a lot of difficulties for someone to enter the spiritual world. So, what about the Marriage-Blessing? Be the heroes of our time, show the future generations that finding our own Heavenly Spouse is a most beautiful task that True Parents have entrusted to us.

How to understand spiritual teaching.

•    God’s language is not Korean, English, or Japanese. God’s language is heartl (heart and love).
•    Every language has limitation to reach someone who was raised with a different language.
•    Therefore, how do we listen to spiritual education? (i.e. the one we received from True Parents, Dr. Yong, or any other teachers?)
•    By paying attention with our original heart, no other way.

How do we listen with our original heart?

1.    Respect – The teacher is trying to convey something
2.    Patience – We will not understand today, but at some point, we will.
3.    Trust – Trusting ourselves and our Heavenly Parent’s relationship with “I” is necessary.

Example

Personal (Anne-Marie Mylar) experience with True Father’s words and ladies’ make-up

Belvedere between 1974 and 1979

TF told us, the ladies, that we should not make up or have beautiful clothes or even take the time to shower. It was not important.

Two weeks later

TF told us, the ladies, that we should always be very presentable. Take the time to put on make-up and have nice clothes.

If you were the person who heard only the 1st time and missed the talk two weeks later, what would you do? Was TF wrong the first time? And corrected himself? No, he was not. It is not what we do that matters most. It is with which motivation do we do or not do something. Father’s was right, both times. It is up to us to go beyond the words and understand the heart of God.

Generation...Generation...Generation...

From the beginning of time, the gaps between each generation (about 30 years each) have been difficult to handle because each generation thinks, “We know better.”

I have reflected a lot on this, as I could not avoid the conflict between myself and my daughter. The conflict was not that bad but necessary because each of us made efforts to understand one another due to the simple reason that we deeply care and love each other.

Today, I would not call it an actual conflict, but there are times when each of us feels “something” is there.  That "something" reminds us both that we do belong to different generations where the other cannot live. What does that mean? It means that we simply need to respect each other’s generation and recognize the differences between them. And…these differences are good!

Why? The simple fact that none of us, young and old alike, can replicate a past generation shows that we are not robots but human beings, and unique. If we had simply repeated the lives of our ancestors, we would still be living in the Stone Age.

How do we handle the differences so that all of us are comfortable with our various inter-generational relationships? Well, respect and trust in one another will help. I do not mention “love” on purpose because too many of us are still learning what “love” is all about. But one thing I believe is, "love" starts with respect and trust in one another.

“Mom…Trust me. Just trust me!” the desperate cry of my daughter I heard not just once but multiple times during her early adult years, still rings in my ears. I made an effort to pay attention, and one day I understood. I cannot explain to any of you how it happened because I do not remember, but one day the subject line of an email I sent to her read, “I got it.”

I got it! I finally was able to trust my daughter without fear of an impending disaster.  I think it came because I also decided to trust God. Easy to say, but not easy to do. Respect and trust must go both ways, so this would be my advice to the young generations:

Do not dismiss what the old people say. Listen to them; pay attention, for they have plenty of wisdom. Only after patiently understanding what they are saying will you have the ability to change the things you want to change and  really improve them. There are no shortcuts in life; we must learn from the past if we do not want to stay in the past.

And to the “old folks” like me, I would say:

Do not dismiss what the young people say. Listen to them; pay attention, for they have plenty of energy and ideas that need your wisdom. But if you do not listen and respect them, they will not be able to hear you. You do not really want the next generations to repeat your life and do things the way you did. They cannot. They are not re-living our history they are building theirs. But our successors will succeed faster if we are able to listen to them. And when they feel our respect, they will want to listen to us.

A letter of apology

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

You are precious to me. Your ancestry is precious to me. All your ancestors came from an exceptionally beautiful and precious continent, Africa. You have an amazing ability to love and care.
I would like to apologize to all of you on behalf of my race, for all the hurt and the abuse and the dis-respect that you and your ancestors have received because of our ignorance, our greed, and our inability to love.

I cannot demand forgiveness from any of you, I apologize expecting no rewards.

You can understand God better than many people because God’s own children were lied to, stolen, and raped by Lucifer and transported to a world that was not theirs. Your anger, outrage, and suffering has been and is today comparable to the one of our Heavenly Parent of yesterday and today.

Your amazing ability to love has been witnessed multiple times in the last 400 years or so. And it is my hope that together, we can cross the greatest divide of all so that we can reach the finish line together and at the same time, once and for all, bring all humanity back to God, our creator and loving Parent.

I apologize on behalf of my race,
Sincerely and with gratitude,
Anne-Marie Mylar

The Power of Giving…

Some people throughout history have felt value in giving to a cause or an idea. Individuals who have worked in missionary activities understand this. The richness of their lives cannot be valued monetarily, but their contribution is substantial.

There are many ways to give and support a project, an idea, or fulfill a goal. Money is not always available, but time might be—

For quite some time now, I have tried to find a couple of individuals who could offer me in earnest one or two hours a week of their precious time. A true gift, a genuine gift that would benefit others and truly serve a great purpose. So far, I have not been able to find such individuals within our communities.
I believe they are out there…
…but how to reach them? I do not know. Can you please help me find these precious people?

All About Race...

When I originally created OMS, I followed the pattern of and included most of the questions  from  the  paper  Matching  Application  available  at  the  time.  One question was about race. Because I wanted to make sure that everyone would be comfortable with the question asked, I went on the internet to find out the best words to use to describe someone’s racial origin.

When talking to a Caucasian sister a couple of years later, I was surprised that she was unhappy that the word “white” was used  to  describe  her  race.  I  was open to suggestions, but she had no good substitute. So, “white,” it stayed.

Throughout  the  years,  I  became  more  and  more  uncomfortable  about  this particular question, so I changed the “word” race to the words “Parental Heritage.” I thought that would work. It did for a while, but then the discomfort returned.

In  addition  to  my  own  reticence  about  this,  as  I  worked  with  many  different candidates  throughout  the  years,  I  discovered  that  many  individuals  would, unconsciously perhaps, begin to read a profile but stop after reading the answer to that particular question. That disturbed me....a lot.

At  the  beginning  of  2019,  my  colleagues  and  I  were  preparing  for  yet  another Online Matching Meeting, something we do four times a year for 1st Generation members as well as Blessed Children. While reviewing someone’s profile I was again reminded about the sensitivity of this particular question.  Right then and there I decided to simply eliminate it.

From the 1960’s to 1990’s True Parents chose our spouses, and accepting their choice was easy. Faith in God and True Parents was virtually all that was needed.  Today,  however,  those  choosing  their  own  spouses  need  to  also  have  faith  in themselves, something that requires a lot more personal effort.

Applicants  on OMS,  are  no  longer  asked  to  indicate  their  race  or  parental heritage. This question is entirely irrelevant in God’s eyes and, at this point in human history, should be irrelevant for us all. I believe that in the future, we will be proud of our own and others’ cultural heritages and be unafraid to answer questions of who we are. But today, some walls are still high.

My life as a Unificationist… A small discovery

Today I was reading Nancy Hanna testimony in the book “40-years in America” and an idea came to me. My life in the Unification Movement did not follow the normal “Formula course” taught by our True Parents. I was in a business mission from day 1 of moving into the center in Paris and stay in a business mission until April 15, 2009, except for 9 months in 1974.

We rarely fasted, rarely did conditions that would impair our ability to work long hours for the business at hand. We work hard, but we were well fed, well cared for in many ways.

I have many times compared my life as a Unificationist to many others who went a quite different course and I wondered why mine was different.

I have always been healthy, but I was a tiny child. My mother was a mid-wife and took care of me and my sister very well. I think my physical body was more fragile than possibly the norm, especially when I was very young. I remember receiving special medical treatment because I was so small for no specific reason.

I think God chose my mission very well. If I had followed the formula course, I may not have survived it. God knew my abilities, my strength of character, and he gave me a job, that I could do. Working hard, well fed, medical care anytime I needed. I never thought like that before, but I think that might be the reason for my life in our movement.

Because of the business mission, I attended only a couple of Divine Principle workshop and that was it. My spiritual life was not nourished as much as some other members. I remember very well, how eager we all were when visited by an elder and spoken to about God, True Parents, and the Divine Principle. But that was so rare.

God knew I could handle that. My commitment to God was strong enough to handle the fasting of spiritual food. That is why I got the job I did as a Unificationist. At least that is one explanation.

Special Note: In April of 2009 I had cancer and required a lot of treatments. I could not work anymore and earned a living. That is when I decided that I was done with business missions. No more! I stop reading books for entertainment only. Every book I read from then on to today are connected to feed my spiritual life for the purpose of guiding humankind to God and True Parents. It is during that time, summer 2009 that the Online Matching System (OMS) was born. The following year, I connected with the Blessing Family Ministry (BFM) and have been working with them since.

With Love and gratitude, always,

Anne-Marie

Describing Heaven...One thought at a time.

Julius Caesar appeared in the Roman Empire, conquered Gaul, incorporated it into the Roman Empire, and accomplished the unification of the Roman Empire (45 BC).
The New Essentials of Unification Thoughts – 2016 page 358

This morning after reading this sentence, a special feeling came over me, for the first time, in my whole life, as far as I can remember. I felt sad not to be able to speak the language of my ancestors, the ones before the Romans invaded France. The French language spoken today has been greatly influence by the presence of Romans in Gaul. For some reason I felt sad and hurt about this.

This kind of feeling in a fallen environment would cause resentment, anger, and possibly could lead to acts of violence and wars. However, I did not feel such feelings. I simply was sad and regretted not knowing the original languages of my ancestors.

Then my thoughts, went the following way. In a world where all of humanity is living centered on God the behavior expressed above will be the norm. Call it elements of peace, or elements of emotional maturity, perhaps. The result will be the same.

Many of us, wonder what Heaven looks like, what it will feel like, or what it truly means. What I described above is one of the elements of Heaven.

My Mom, Blanche Seguette

Today is Wednesday March 18, 2020

I woke up this morning from a dream. In my dream I saw my Mom. I have had the desire to see my Mom, in a dream or spiritually many times but it never happened before. To my recollection this is the first time.
She was beautiful, she was happy. She was petite, plumped, but not very overweight. She wore a white dress with print of tiny pink flowers all over. So, the dress looked like it was pink. She had a full head of beautiful white hair. She looked around 75 years old. She was beautiful. Her spirit was good, healthy, and loving.
It was Christmas day. The place was a large house, with many rooms and an elevator. There were people everywhere, in each room, in each hallway. People were giving each other gifts. Others were still wrapping. I did not have any gift to wrap or give, however, I was not worried about it. I thought of Andrea and was wondering about a gift. But then, we saw each other and embraced and it was all good.
I saw my Mom, when I was coming out of the elevator to the first floor. She was right there in front
of the door. She smiled. We embraced. It was so good.
I am happy because I have been wondering what my Parents, my sister and her husband have been up to in the spiritual world. I know that they suffered a lot after I became a Unificationist. I was dead to them all. They could not understand what I did. They were so resentful. So, I have been wondering how they were doing now, in the spiritual world.
Seeing my Mom, makes me feel good because she is the mother. A mother is the person who takes care of everyone. She was happy, she had a large smile, she was free of resentment. She can now also help my father, my sister, and her husband. This is truly good. I am so grateful for this dream.
If I was a painter, I will paint a picture of her.
My Mom January 1995 (She looks so sad there) Last time I saw her.
