I don't often put Rev. Sun Myung Moon's words on this blog, though I collect many of them. But I had to put this one up.

What will you do in your life? Leave a tomb of love behind. Let us leave a tomb of love behind! If you live inside a tomb of love, you will feel no bitter sorrow. You may get tired of living in a place like a tomb but will feel no bitter sorrow if you live in love. If we leave a tomb of love behind in our lifetime, our life will be a success for eternity. If you live like that and die, God will bring His sons and daughters to welcome you in the spirit world. If there’s no ring on your hand, God will put a diamond ring of the Kingdom of Heaven on your finger. If you’re not well-dressed, God will dress you in the richest apparel fit for the royalty of the Kingdom of Heaven. (97-167, 1978.3.12) CSG – page 591

 It shows the love, the appreciation, and the care that True Father (Rev. Sun Myung Moon) has for the members.

Relationship with God

I discovered the writing below, today on my computer while searching for something else and I wanted to share it.

You shouldn’t forget that while you lived as an embryo, you not only received nutrition from your mother but you also received love from her. Likewise, people living on earth are not only receiving physical nutrition from the universe but also love from God, who is the essential element of life. (Blessed Family -1062) CSG page 452

This morning, January 21, 2012 reading the passage above from CSG I understood for the first time the meaning of what it means “Indirect relationship with God, while in a period of growth”. I went further in my understanding. I also believe that I understand more clearly the dilemma of abortion.

Korean tradition of love and respect towards elders.

While in the womb, the embryo has no concept of God, but do receive love through the mother. The relationship with God and the outside world, from the embryo point of view only takes place through the mother. If we transfer this to our lives on earth, then we can say that as we come out of the womb, our life as spiritual being is in a stage of embryo and the only way that we can possibly feel God and the value of the entire universe, especially the spiritual world, is through the Parents who have given us life.

As we grow and development our understanding of our world and expend our ability to love, we become more independent and capable of relating to God on our own and therefore also relate to the universe on our own. By the time we reach maturity, by no means tells us that we have learned everything, but maturity is the time that we are judged capable to take responsibility for ourselves and for someone else’s life as well. And so, we become parents ourselves and the circle starts all over.

A Prayer

Beloved Heavenly Father! Today is October 5, 1998, which is also Chuseok in Korea, a day of celebration on which the people honor their ancestors. You have worked endlessly to establish the realm of liberation for the Old, New and Completed Testament ages in history to ease Your grief over not having seen this world become a settlement of love, in which all forms of creation, all people in the spirit world, countless believers, and all things created with love and living on earth would have lived together with You. Today, before heaven and earth, Cheongpyeong in Korea, and the people gathered here in São Paulo in the western world, please bring to an end the sorrowful history that You have had to endure, (296-9, 1998.10.5)

One may not necessarily understand or even approved of Rev. Sun Myung Moon, but when I read the prayer above I sure don't see anything wrong with it.  I wish our world would be the way he is praying for.  I have not lived an impossible dream.  I truly believe that with conscious effort we can make our world a peaceful, joyful, and loving one.

God's piece of cake!

If there’s no ring on your hand, God will put a diamond ring of the Kingdom of Heaven on your finger.

I have found myself at odds with some Unificationists in the past because of desperation over not being blessed or not having children. There is nothing more important to a follower of Rev. Moon than the marriage blessing and building a family centered on God. So, if one find that they cannot or have not done that, for some reason, they feel failure and more over they feel doom that they will never be able to experience spousal love and parental love.

Experiencing God’s love in all of its forms is a pre-requisite in reaching the highest realm of the spiritual world.

On the other end, let’s think some more, God is a parental God; he will never be satisfied unless every individuals that has ever been born has the ability to reach the kingdom of heaven.  Therefore, I don’t have to think very hard to know that there will be a way for people who passed on to the spiritual world without receiving the marriage blessing and/or having children to experience the love of a spouse, the love of children, and the love of a parent. I don’t know the details but I do know that it must be so.

The words I read today from Rev. Moon gives me a hint that I am correct in my thinking and that we must not judge ourselves with things that we may not be able to control but instead make each day count as a day closer to become the loving person God wants us to be.  The rest is just a “piece of cake” for God.

In general, when human beings think about eternal life, they think of it not only in terms of decades or centuries, but in millennia, tens of millennia or eons. When people die, they are no different from animals. What use is it to leave anything behind? Nowadays, even atheists and agnostics say to themselves: “Ah, I have to make a name for myself.” Yet, of what use is it to do that? Even if one became an American patriot and were honored with a monument, it would disappear when America perishes. What use is it to leave your name behind? Even if you did so, historically speaking, something that was considered good during a period of prosperity can later be viewed as bad during a period of decline. (103-15, 1979.1.28)

God’s purpose is to have His posterity populate the earth. Therefore, when we go before God in the spirit world, having left behind children of the Living God on earth, we also come to stand in His position. That indeed, is the meaning of the scripture, “be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.” (146-223, 1986.3.11)

What are religions for?

"They are training grounds through which God has been directing all people along that path, whatever their race, cultural background, customs and traditions. Religions are the training grounds for training people to become eligible to return to the original home­land. Taking into account the diverse cultural backgrounds ranging across the four corners of the earth, God is lead­ing humanity toward a unified world of religion that can progress upward onto higher ground.

What does religion which guides people to the original homeland, cen­trally teach? It is to live for the sake of others. As highly developed religions tend to emphasize this principle, they teach us to be gentle and meek, to stand in a position to elevate others and live for their sake, and to serve them sacrifi­cially. All this serves to instill discipline in us to abide by the laws of the Kingdom of Heaven." Sun Myung Moon 1975.5.6

Are these words hard to understand? After 40 years as a Unificationist, they are not hard for me but I don't know about people who come across them for the first time. The paragraph before this one was:

"You may not know of the reality of the spirit world, but I enjoy the spe­cial benefit from God of having a clear insight into that unknown world. Dig­ging into the root of that world, I found its principles to be quite simple. In the spirit world only those who lived altruis­tically in line with God’s universal prin­ciples can enter the higher realms. The world structured along those lines is the ideal heavenly kingdom. That place is the original homeland that humankind must seek. Today, although we are exiles from our original homeland and live a fallen life, we are destined to return there. God had to create a path for this in the course of history because we could not do so by our own efforts."

When Rev. Moon speaks about "Original homeland" he means the place that God originally intended when He created Adam and Eve. The place that is described in the Bible as the "Garden of Eden".  The world we live in today is far from that original place, however, the goal remains the same. A world of peace, kindness, forgiveness, compassion, concern for others and the creation will make a world that is utterly pleasant for all, regardless of our aspirations, personalities, and personal desires.

A successful business person will have the right to his or her money because he or she will have earned it with good ethics. He or she will be providing a product or a service that is beneficial to society and promote the welfare of mankind and the creation.

Politicians will be truly servants of their people. The words "Platform" and "Party" will be history. Politicians will work together for the benefit of the whole. They will look at the need of people from a global standpoint and together will try to bring solutions to what ever problems come their way.

Great People: Martin Luther King, Jr.

Many years ago Rev. Sun Myung Moon was asked to name one person whom he admired greatly in the United States. His answer was, Martin Luther King, Jr. Recently, I read some comments made by Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy a few months after the death of her husband about Rev. ML King. The comments were not kind and reflected a particular moment in time. They left me with a “bad taste” in my mouth.

Rev. ML King has been regarded with admiration because of his dedication to a peaceful revolution that would bring equality of rights in America to all people. Recently I also read a long letter that was written by Rev. ML King while in jail in Alabama (click here for full text of the letter). The letter is very clear about his thoughts and his plans. I found nothing wrong with his way of thinking. He had a plan he carried out that plan to the best of his abilities. And because of his efforts, basic human rights, long overdue, were granted to a significant segment of our population in this country of America that until his time had been marginalized and badly mistreated.

I think what I am trying to say is that great people are great because of the way they think and because of what they try to achieve due to their great thinking. That does not mean that on the way to accomplishing their goals they will not make mistakes. Should we disregard the greatness of an individual solely because of his or her faults and weaknesses? We may be displeased and we may wish them to be perfect, but, regardless of their imperfections these people, ultimately, helped in the creation of a better world for all.

There are few people that in the course of history, and some in our world today, that through their actions are influencing the whole world for the better. Most of us do not have the ability to emulate them, our responsibility then is to support them and help them fulfill their divine mission. Their victory will be ours as well.

Our Attitude Towards Nature

When you open your eyes in the morning and look at nature, it subtly connects with your original nature and inspires feelings about a new ideal that can sprout forth. On the other hand, you know very well that the more you look at the human world, the more despair and sorrow it arouses in your heart. If the world were populated by people who had not fallen, the value of human beings would not stir up sorrow in the heart of a beholder. Human beings were not created merely to have the value of a blade of grass, a flower or a tree trunk. People were supposed to be noble beings who could not be exchanged for anything in the created world. They were supposed to step forward representing Heaven with incomparable value. (CIG page 111, Sun Myung Moon, 1960.4.24)

You should have a mind that contemplates nature that is imbued with the love of God and says, “Could anything precious owned by a king of this world or by some famous person compare with this? Could any antique artifact compare with this? Could a glamorous dress worn by a famous lady compare with this?” Without that kind of heart, we are committing a sin before the natural world without even knowing it. If there is someone who can look at a living being and say, “Can anything produced by human hands compare with this? No matter how great someone may be, could he ever be greater than God?” and value most highly all things created through God’s hard work, he must surely be a child of God. Such a person does not need to pray. He lives with God. God guides people into such a position. (CIG page 111, Sun Myung Moon, 1960.5.8)

The Divine Principle

The greatness of the Divine Principle taught by the Unification Church is that it explains creativity in concrete terms and serves us in our understanding of the process of creation. Next, it provides a substantial explanation of how the Fall came about and then also presents a view of history. It clearly explains how God, rather than abandoning human beings in their fallen state, has been working diligently for their re-creation throughout the course of history. It logically and plainly reveals that through this process of restoration we will arrive at the world He purposed to achieve. (Sun Myung Moon,1990.11.20)

The world today is more aware of its surrounding than it was many years ago. The ability to study various thoughts, theologies, and religions is at the finger tips of many. There are no excuses for ignorance. I will not make excuses for what I believe is true but will put it out there for anyone to read. It is up to each of us, educated being to make the effort to understand how to create and maintain a peaceful world. By looking at the history of mankind we do realized that, so far, every single method used failed, so the importance of finding a different route for peace and the wellbeing of humankind should be one of primary study.

About God's Love

"When a woman is expecting a baby, a new world emerges for her. When the baby starts moving, she has so much hope. This is how women should be.  They have many dreams, like the ones God had when He created. To have the thought “I hope my child grows up and becomes so and so in the future” is in keeping with the heart God had when He prepared to create Adam and Eve."

Did you ever experience reading something that you have read before but having a different reaction to the content than the time prior? I have. Today I read the words above from Rev. Sun Myung Moon dated July 1992, and felt a greater understanding for God's love.

The Position of Exitence and the Responsibility of Humankind

Today I was reading the following passage and decided to publish it. It is not easy for us all, humans, to understand our existence and its purpose. Many of us are confronted with suffering on a daily basis, either personally or through the media. Either way, it affects us deep inside even when we are not aware of it. Our life experiences affect our beliefs and our goals in life.

The following reading is from a book titled, "Sermons of the Reverend Sun Myung Moon" book 3. The date is September 15, 1957.

The Position of Existence and the Responsibility of Humankind

This is not God's desire. The wish that God has is for humankind to set all the conditions of restoration and bring to pass the one day when they can call God "True Father." God has been wished for this for 6,000 years. Therefore, you have to understand that God is working hard for this earth. He has been battling for the sake of this earth while crossing an unspeakably miserable course. Now we must attend this Father. We must reflect upon ourselves, before the eternal Father, whether we are leading selfish lives in the position of an enemy.

You who have come searching for the path of ordeals that others avoid! You who have been found after 6,000 years of Heaven's work! As sons and daughters of the True Father, you have to take on the Father's unfinished tasks. You must become the representatives of Heaven who can fight against Satan, even until the end of time. Moreover, for this sake, you should be able to completely present yourself to the Father and say that you can inherit a new mission. In your mind you must envision each step taken by the Father. Even if you cannot take responsibility for all of the Father's suffering and worries, you must be able to attend the Father in your hearts.

What then is the source of the bitterness and grief of God? Christianity today thinks that God dwells in glory, but this is not true. If humankind does not believe in and support Him, then God's will cannot be realized. This is the reason even now God anxiously longs for humankind to fulfill their responsibility. Therefore, you must establish the heavenly laws on this earth, actualize the heavenly kingdom of glory, and materialize God's eternal ideal of goodness in this universe.

No matter how hard God tries to fulfill the will, He cannot do it alone. Moreover, Satan cannot stand in the position of goodness, no matter how hard he tries. Unless humankind saves him, he has no choice but to remain in the position of evil for eternity. This is not true with men. They can become glorified before the Father. On the contrary, they can also stand on the side of Satan and confront Heaven.

If I end my post with no additional comments, it is on purpose. I do not want to convince anyone about my faith; I simply want to make everyone curious and aware of its existence.
